Dictionary Diving:

Maybe you don’t have writer’s block but you’re just feeling a little creatively challenged this weekend?

Open a dictionary (or any book, magazine or newspaper), randomly select a word and then try to formulate ideas (and sentences) incorporating this word. You’d be surprised how well this works to spark creativity. The concept is based on a simple but little known truth: freedom inhibits creativity. There are nothing like restrictions to get you thinking.

From Jeffery Baumgartner’s Ten Steps for Boosting Creativity. I have a feeling you’ll see this book referenced again ;)

Did it work? Report back here with your word and a few ideas/sentences or post to laNeva’s Facebook page.

I have a dictionary within reach almost always, even carry one in my truck, and I love this idea! Grassy-ass! (trans: “Thank you” from the Not So Good at Spanish Dictionary)
